A group of Youth in Pizhala, a thickly populated island threw their gauntlets for their right to travel. They organised a risky protest by remaining in water for hours as part of their protest in delay in Pizhala bridge. The Youth didn't opt to call political leaders in their strike. Instead they sought the support of other public activists. Jeevanadam Managing Editor Fr Antony Vibin, KLCA state president Shaji George, social activist Adv Sherry J Thomas, Devasom board leader TR Murali, Mrs Raji spoke. Biju Puthussery, Sijo John, Ajesh etc lead the strike. The risky water strike was precedented by a one day hunger strike by the Youth called Voice of Pizhala.

Archbishop Bernadine Beccinelli served a lot for providing education to the down trodden by starting schools with churches-said Archbishop Francis Kallarakal. He was presiding over the meeting to commemorate the 150 th anniversary of "pallikkoru pallikkudam " pastoral letter.
The best teacher in Kerala award formed by KRLCC, for government and aided school - Rs one lakh was declared by Archbishop. The award will be given to the best teacher on every year.
State Minister Mr P J Joseph inaugurated the meeting. Church always plays a crucial role in growth of individuals. Blessed Chavara was one of the vicar general of Archbishop Beccinelli; he said. Church did a lot in field of education. Now we have to make Kerala as a Centre of excellence.

1948-2014

Prof. M. R. Joseph former principal of St. Albert’s College and former Vice President of KLCA Archdiocese of Verapoly was one of the front runner among latin luminaries in Kerala.
He joined the Dept. of chemistry of the college in 1971 and was promoted to the post of principal in 1999. During his tenure as the principle the college achieved 100% computer literacy, the first college in Kerala to achieve this landmark. Prof. Joseph had the good fortune of working with the teaching service commission of cross river street of Nigeria as a senior master and also as the vice principal from 1981-86.
Prof. Joseph is actively involved in social activities and is the resources person for career guidance and counselling for Navadarshan, department of education, Archdiocese of Verapoly. He is also member of Catholic Council of India, under the Catholic Bishops Council of India, secretary, Kerala Catholic Council under the KCBC, member of KRLCC.

Latin Catholics are not acting as Congress allies
The KLCA state president who is also the spoke person of KRLCC Shaji George stated in an official press release that Latin Catholics in Kerala are not acting in accordance with Congress leadership. He was countering to the statement of O Rajagopal that the LC and Congress conspired at Trivandrum lok saba election to defeat him.
